direction/Ferry

(Distance Munich-Brestova to the ferry: 560 km)

 

By car (dont forget your valild passport/identity card):

Coming from Munich take motorway A 8 via Salzburg, the Tauern motorway, A 10 via Villach, there either through the  Karawankentunnel to Slovenia  to Ljubljana. From direction Ljubljana, turn after apprx. 50 km direction Postonja onto the highway and follow the road to the  border dtation Rupa to Opatja/Rijeka.

You can instead coming from Villach use the motorway A 2 via Udine/Triest (branch-off Südkreuz Villach) (so you can pass-by the  blockades at Karawankentunnel on Saturdays) from there you go directly to Opatja/Rijeka.   Here take the decision: Do you want to use the romantic coastal road of Istria to Opatja (ca. 40 min) via Lovran to Brestova to the ferry  and ferries to the wilde Northcap of Cres, Postonja (20 min.). From the Northcap of  Cres - 45 min to go further - you use the only highway on Cres towards south to Martinšćica. 

Or you stay behind the Croation border on the well laid motorway which leads throgh Rijeka to the bridge to Island Krk ("Otok Krk") and from there on the highway to Valbiska to the ferry (apprx.45 min) and lands after a nice trip on the ferry 20 minutes later in Merag (in the east of island Cres), from where it is in southern direction only approximately 30 minutes to Martinšćica. From the ferry you´l have a georgeous view onthe islands!

Tip: In low-season come via Rijeka/Krk. The ferries will come and go more frequent. But if you prefer teh more romantic way, vome via Opatja/Lovran. But in the earliy morning, in the north of Cres,  you might have to chase the goats off the road....

Public transport:

 

Airport Rijeka (Croatia Airlines a.o.) locates on island Krk. There you can rent a car and you can reach in  20 min. the ferry in Valbiska. From Vabliska it takes 20 min. to Cres.

​

Pure nature: By train to Rijeka, from the hourbour there a catamaran (direction Mali Losinj) Mo,Th,Sa afternoon it takes two hours with stop in the islands´capital Cres direct to Martinšćica. The  Pier is 15m far from the house Il Blu.
